THE OLD HOUSE
Sinopse
An old house withers away at the heart of a village ripped in half by a road where cars no longer stop. During the dictatorship, this building was the most progressive Catholic seminary in Portugal. António, the front door neighbour, was brought up and raised a family in its shadow. Ever since the Dominican priests left, he has been its most faithful caretaker – keeper of ghosts, memories, and hallways now emptied of life. Abandoned for years, the town’s former epicentre now hopes for a new life.

Sinopse
1941, the Second World War. Portugal is surviving through neutrality. In the shadows, many Portuguese citizens serve the Allied powers, others, however, serve the Axis powers, others still serve both simultaneously. Maria Joa~o Mascarenhas works for her father in law in a truckage company. Recruited by her friend Rose Lawson, she searches for information regarding wolfram shipments. Between parties, casinos and coded messages the two women get themselves involved in diplomatic intrigue. Before them is a network that can destroy the whole country.

Sinopse
Alex is a young Englishman who is going to Rio to work in an international brokerage company owned by Frank Martinez, a Hispanic-American millionaire. In Brazil, he realizes that Martinez's companies are involved in money laundering. Alex gets involved with Paulinha, transvestite and illegitimate daughter of the Portuguese Casemiro Alves, "Ciro", a famous "bicheiro". Meeting Ciro, Alex discovers the illegal businesses in which this "Jogo do Bicho owner" is involved - from drug and arms trafficking to political corruption. Behind the samba schools, we take a hard journey through the dark side of Rio de Janeiro, the wonderful city.
